William & Kate Reveal the One Thing They Always Do Before Leaving Their Kids for a Trip

It can be hard for young kids to understand what’s going on when their parents travel for work. It has to be even harder when your parents are Prince William and Kate Middleton, whose royal duties take them all over the world. But it sounds like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have come up with a simple and fun way to explain their jet-setting lifestyle to their three children.

William and Kate were recently in Wales

The couple traveled to their old stomping grounds on Tuesday to help celebrate St. David’s Day, also known as the Feast of St. David, which honors the patron saint of Wales. During their visit, they were asked how their kids were doing back home, and William gamely answered.

“The children are very well, thank you,” he replied, according to onlookers who recounted the interaction to People.

William then shared how he and Kate explain their frequent travels to their kids

According to the future king, 8-year-old Prince George, 6-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 3-year-old Prince Louis are very curious about where their mom and dad travel for work. “They are always asking us where we are going,” William revealed. “And we show them where we are on the map.”

We bet the Cambridges keep that map handy

William and Kate are some of the most public faces of the royal family right now, and they have been traveling all around the UK, making sure that nothing falls behind while the Queen is on light duty due to a mystery medical ailment and a recent bout with COVID-19. In fact, just this year alone, they have visited Denmark (Kate), Dubai (William), and various other places of interest across England (together).

It doesn’t seem like their travel schedule will slow down anytime soon

With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year in full swing, and all of the planned parties and events moving along as scheduled, we’re sure William and Kate will be spending plenty of time on the road over the next nine months.

We don’t think they’ll be too upset about that, either. The two really seem to love getting a chance to chat and mingle with the locals wherever they visit.

It’s great that William and Kate have figured out a way to make their travels accessible to their kids

Since the Cambridge kids are likely to grow up to become working, on-the-go royals themselves, it’s good for them to understand just how far-reaching their responsibilities could be. And thanks to their parents’ map tradition, their geography knowledge will always be up to snuff.
