Queen Camilla will take a break from royal duties weeks following King Charles’ illness.

After a difficult few weeks in which she has been forced to shoulder much of the burden for the royals, Queen Camilla is taking a break from her duties, according to sources.

Hello! Camilla will take a short, week-long break from royal engagements, leaving her schedule free of any and all obligations that would otherwise keep her occupied.

According to reports, the Queen will return to work on March 11 to head the Royal Family in a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Meanwhile, other senior royals are expected to step in for her, according to reports.

It’s no secret that King Charles’ current health issues have kept him from performing the regular royal duties of a reigning king. The King was diagnosed with an unidentified type of cancer early last month after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate, and he is currently receiving treatment.

Complicating matters further was Kate Middleton’s hospitalization and ensuing recovery period, which may have prevented Prince William from assisting as much as he could have.

To fill the gap, Queen Camilla has taken on additional royal duties, including serving as the royal figurehead during the late King Constantine of Greece’s burial service last week.

As for Charles, it is widely documented that the King has been dividing his time between London and the royal estate of Sandringham in Norfolk, England. The monarch is still undergoing treatment, but the royals have not specified what form of cancer he has or what stage it is in.

During a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunka, King Charles acknowledged to being moved to tears by the public’s words of support following his illness. Regarding Charles’ rehabilitation, the royals’ overall message is that he is doing well and remains optimistic.
