Prince Harry revealed what Kate Middleton texted Meghan Markle during infamous ‘argument’ between pair

Prince Harry previously disclosed what Kate Middleton texted Meghan Markle during their well-known “argument.”

The Duke of Sussex shared details about the tension surrounding his and Meghan’s 2018 wedding day in his tell-all memoir, Spare, released in 2023. In the book, Harry directly addressed the tabloid stories claiming Meghan made Kate cry during the lead-up to the ceremony.

During her highly-publicized interview with Oprah, Meghan countered these claims, saying the reverse had occurred. She explained, “I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details, because she apologized. And I’ve forgiven her.”

Harry, however, went into specifics in his memoir. According to him, the disagreement between Meghan and Kate centered on bridesmaid dresses, particularly the one for Kate’s second-eldest, Princess Charlotte.

With Kate and William’s daughter, Charlotte, set to play a role in their big day, Harry alleged there was tension regarding the fit of her dress.

According to Harry, Kate reached out to Meghan four days before the wedding to express concerns that the ‘French Couture’ dresses needed alterations.

He claimed that Kate grew frustrated because Meghan did not respond to her immediately.

“Meg didn’t reply to Kate straight away,” Harry explained. “Yes, she had endless wedding-related texts, but mostly she was dealing with the chaos surrounding her father. So the next morning she texted Kate that our tailor was standing by.”

“This wasn’t sufficient,” he added.

Back in 2018, Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Snr, had to undergo heart surgery and ultimately could not attend the wedding.

Harry wrote that Kate later expressed her frustration, saying: “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on a[t] home.”

Meghan reportedly responded: “Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8am. Here. At KP. Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?”

However, Kate allegedly disagreed, replying: “No, all the dresses need to be remade.”

Harry recounts: “Meg asked if Kate was aware of what was going on right now. With her father. Kate said she was well aware, but the dresses. And the wedding is in four days!”

Meghan then responded sharply: “Yes, Kate, I know… ”

He remembers Meghan saying to Kate: “I’m not sure what else to say. If the dress doesn’t fit then please take Charlotte to see Ajay. He’s been waiting all day,” to which Kate replied: “Fine.”

Upon returning home after the argument, Harry described finding Meghan in tears, “sobbing on the floor.”

The next day, Kate reportedly visited with a bouquet of flowers and a card to apologize for the misunderstanding.

Meanwhile, the Royal Family opted not to address Harry’s claims in Spare at the time.
