Kate Middleton made her royal return at Trooping the Colour after her cancer diagnosis, hinting at attending more events this summer.
While Kate and King Charles are back, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were absent, reportedly not invited. Despite this, Meghan stole the spotlight by launching a new product just before Kate’s return, sparking accusations of attention-stealing.
Kate confirmed her comeback on Friday.
Kate Middleton return to royal duty after cancer treatment
The Princess of Wales expressed excitement about attending Trooping the Colour, her first royal outing since surgery and cancer treatment.
“I’ve been touched by the support, which has helped William and me through tough times,” Kate said.
She added, “I’m making progress, but with chemotherapy, there are good and bad days. On tough days, I rest; on good days, I make the most of it.”
Her treatment will continue for a few more months, and she’s looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade and some summer engagements, though she’s aware she’s not out of the woods yet.
Buckingham Palace balcony appearance during Trooping the Colour
Kate Middleton shared, “I’m learning patience, taking it day by day, and allowing myself time to heal. Thank you for your understanding and to those who’ve shared their stories.”
At Trooping the Colour, she wore a white dress with a black bow, smiling and waving to the crowd.
Schofield praised her, saying she looked “absolutely incredible” and compared her to Audrey Hepburn. “She’s so engaged with the kids, showing their close bond.”
Kate later joined her family on the Buckingham Palace balcony. After a tough year, things seemed to return to normal. Though she’s attending more events this summer, she’ll choose them wisely.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘were not invited’ to Trooping the Colour, expert says
The ongoing feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continues, with the couple not involved in royal events for years, except for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
Though King Charles invited them to Balmoral this summer, the absence of the Sussexes at Trooping the Colour wasn’t surprising. Royal expert Tom Quinn revealed there were discussions about inviting Harry and Meghan, but it was quickly dismissed. Even if they accepted, it was believed their presence would overshadow the event.
It’s unclear if Harry and Meghan watched the royal family at Buckingham Palace, but they likely have other priorities.
Meghan Markle – new lifestyle brand
A few weeks ago, Meghan and Harry visited Nigeria for a three-day Invictus Games tour—reportedly upsetting the royal family.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s launched a new business: her luxury lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Unveiled in March with a video filmed at her Montecito home, the brand’s first product—a lemon-filled basket with handmade jam—was sent to 50 celebrity friends.
PR expert Mayah Riaz believes the brand could earn Meghan a seven-figure income within a year. “It seems exclusive, and with reports that a single jar might cost hundreds, that’s not unusual for celebrity brands,” Riaz said.
She added the brand could reach multi-seven figures by next year.
“Meghan was in tears when the brand launched”
Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, was hyped at launch—gaining hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers in a day. It’s expected to sell oils, homeware, and more.
But since then, things have gone quiet. According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Meghan was “in tears” after the brand’s jam was mocked for being overpriced and unremarkable.
“She feels everything she does gets unfairly attacked,” Quinn told the Mirror, adding that Harry believes people are picking on her. Meghan reportedly wasn’t prepared for this kind of backlash, especially about her life in the U.S., which she sees as something to admire—not criticize.
Meghan Markle accused of stealing Kate Middleton spotlight
It’s no secret Meghan and Kate were never close. And after Meghan and Harry left the royal family—and aired their grievances in interviews, a Netflix doc, and Harry’s book—their relationship hit rock bottom.
Now, Meghan is being accused of trying to steal the spotlight again.
On June 15, just hours before Trooping the Colour, close friend Nacho Figueras posted a sneak peek of Meghan’s new raspberry jam on Instagram.
Fans weren’t happy.
“Trying to upstage the royal family. Disgusting,” one user wrote, according to OK! Magazine. Others called it “narcissism at its finest” and said, “Meghan can never outshine Princess Kate.” One even joked, “Who buys jam? It’s just fruit and sugar!”
Source claims Meghan Markle had nothing do to with it
A source close to Meghan Markle told the Daily Beast she wasn’t involved.
“They likely asked for social media posts, but Nacho Figueras does what he wants,” the source said. “His timing was his own.”
They added, “The campaign’s been a hit—and it didn’t cost Meghan anything. The only mystery is, what’s actually for sale?”
